So here we go again...another big finecast relaunch

With daaa da daaaaahh, another price increase.  You can now get 4, count them 4, finecast LoTR models for the price of $26.50, which is what we used to pay just last year plastic kit with 20/24 soldiers or get you 2 metal blisters of 3.  And honestly, figures that are cast in finecast (AKA:resin) blow.  I have had to get replacements for every one, ranging from missing faces to big visible bubbles obscuring detail to subsurface bubbles causing the model to bend.
here is a list of what will be new or relaunched in August:
On another note I have been working on a couple of posts but have been crazy busy at work.  I will get to them soon.....

New GW models "snap together"?

So, I was looking at what was new today, and even though it was all WFB news I read about the two geedubbs assembling their models. I was shocked to run across the phrase "even though all the models snap together".....wait, did I read that right? They SNAP together. Holy Anti-Hobby Batman! Guess I will have to wait and see the models in that kit to really determine if this is a real decline in the hobby side if GW or not.

Here is a Link to the what's new section of GW site.

Edit:
It is just to make it easier for people starting the hobby to get things assembled.
Turns out a lot of the starter kits come this way, and have been this way for a while. Guess I have never really looked closely at the WFB/40K starter kits when they were on a sprue.

Chart for Paint equivalents

I have really become a fan of Vallejo paints, they dilute very well and are easy to handle. FOr those who are nervous about variability here is a paint equivalent chart for GW and Vallejo.

Chart for GW to Vallejo Game Color and Model Color

Edit: I knew a found another list somewhere, here it is, has reaper, P3, coat d arms and rackam. Not all are exact matches, but if you are trying to match something you have seen on the webs it should be a good place to start.

Welcome

Welcome to our club page. First a few words about the name "Warmancer". Years ago I attended a Games Workshop Grand Tournament in Baltimore. Several gaming clubs made their presence known by having club t-shirts and individual diorama that linked together. One club in particular left an impression on me, the Warmongers (from NJ?). I named our club the warmancers after combining the words wargamers and necromancer/neuromancers to signify the art of wargaming.

Our club was born out of desire and out of necessity. Desire because after months of wargaming at the GW Stony Point mall in Richmond, it became obvious our love of the game and the pleasure of gaming with a few other like minded individuals. Our club was also born out of necessity because as we all now know, GW Stony Point is closing as of Jan 28. These two considerations just happened to occur within a few weeks of each other. Providential almost.

I hope our club will bring us many pleasurable and memorable moments in our future. But for now, we have work to do to get our club organized and started. Our core games to start with will be GW games: Lord of the Ring, Warhammer 40k, and Warhammer Fantasy Battle. I personally also hope to stimulate interests in 2 Specialist Games: Battlefleet Gothic (40k spaceships) and Warmaster (grand scale Fantasy).

Best Gaming Wishes,
